Hello, here is a picture of tuscany taken around 5-6am to avoid the crowds. But I am not satisfied with the result, something is missing from this photograph. I find it difficult to balance the contrast and the vibrance I think. I have 4 suggestions for you:
-The v1 without crop.
-The v2 with a light crop because I find that the bottom of the photo does not add much.
-The V3 I desaturated the shadow areas notement down.
-The V4 in panoramic version which seems to me the most appropriate (with the treatment of the V3).
I would very much like to know what you think of it. Many thanks in advance :)
Hello Emmanuel
Thank you for sharing your photo of a Tuscany sunrise with us. It's a beautiful composition with interest in the foreground, the middle distance and the distance. I agree with your decision to crop the foreground and I like the panorama but feel perhaps more sky enhances the image so I worked on the photo that is second from top. I have added a little contrast and definition to bring out the details to their best. It's up to you of course to decide which version you want to submit for curation.
Good light, Elizabeth
Hello Emmanuel,
Thank you for posting this photographic gem, a very moody, prretty scene. Of course I know the place, I have it as drone shot in my portfolio here. I have two suggestions for you. First is the cypress trees, pull them straight. They are very typical for this area, and they're simply always straight. Did you know painters "invented" them because they were easy to paint. Later on the population planted them because they looked so pretty on paintings. At least that's what I heard, found it quite funny...
My second suggestion is to flip the picture. It may hurt, but photos work stronger when being read left to right (in our culture). 1x is a gallery, if you sell it the potential buyer isn't a photographer. He or she may not care whether reality was flipped. It simply looks better, I think. I like the panoramic version most, the long alley calls for it. Here's a flipped version with straightened trees:
Best regards,
Mike
Thank you so much, Daniel. That's very unexpected and means a lot to me.
Emmanuel,
I like your landscape very much. And I went for the vision of Mike but wanted the nice light in your foreground a little bit more. So I used the white balance in the clouds and darkend and lighted this version a little bit more. In this way there was only a little bit more green tone. Only to have more possibilities for your choice. Theo L.
Thank you for all your valuable responses. Honestly, I don't know yet which track to choose to finish the photo. the idea of inverting the image is interesting and I would do a treatment on the color and the addition of detail in the sky especially. I will post it soon!
